Pandion: Providing PPE During the Pandemic
Since 1966, Corning Meals on Wheels (CMOW) has been serving elderly, home-bound and frail residents in the greater Corning-Painted Post area of New York. In 2011, Pandion approached CMOW regarding their Premier US Foods agreement and the savings it could offer their operation. CMOW signed on and has seen consistent savings on food year-over-year.
CMOW's Pandemic Commitment
Over the past 55 years, CMOW has provided thousands of home-delivered meals each year. During the pandemic, the company committed to staying open every single day to serve their clients, despite the risks. Obtaining affordable personal protective equipment (PPE) was key to achieving this goal but was challenging for this fairly small-sized business operation.
Pandion's Help in Sourcing PPE
According to David Smith, Executive Director of Corning Meals, the company realized its pandemic objective mainly because Pandion went to great lengths to source the PPE they needed. Smith says their assistance kept CMOW on track to distribute a total of 65,000 meals in 2021.
Achieving the Company's Ongoing Goal
CMOW's ongoing goal is to improve community health and nutrition while preserving independence for people who can't easily travel outside their homes. The company's alliance with Pandion has proved invaluable during the pandemic and will go on to provide the support they need as the world gets back to normal.
